{Growth Charts}

I read somewhere recently, (I think it was that email from Baby Center that I get), that once your child turns three they start to really grow. I thought that this would be a great time to get a growth chart made for my girls. I looked online and didn't find anything that I was in love with. I didn't want vinyl that stuck on my wall because if I move, I wouldn't be able to take that with me.

This was my solution. May be a simple one, but I love it and so do my girls.

Here is what you will need:
  • a wooden board
  • paint
  • vinyl lines and numbers
  • wood letters for the name (you could also do vinyl if you wanted)
  • a ruler
  • pencil
  • scrapbook paper
  • Mod Podge
I found this 5'x2' wooden board at Wood Connection in Salt Lake. It is really cute and has beveled edges. I painted each board and then began to measure. I wanted to start the chart at their birth height and then just go up from there.

I put the foot marks on first and then added my numbers to that. After those were on, I put the inch marks on. I added a few vinyl flowers.

Painted the letters and Mod Podged cute scrapbook paper on them to match their rooms. I inked the edges of the letters to give them some more depth.

I then put some hanging hardware on the back. Measured up the wall to the height that I had started the markings and voila. A fun growth chart for many memories and years to come!

  4. Great job Becky! I too was dismayed at what the growth chart market offered, so I created a whole new product line called Growth Chart Art - Growth Charts You Never Outgrow. You can see them at www.growthchartart.com

  7. Super cute! I'm not so crafty like you gals, so I could use a little extra help:
1- How do you ink the letters?
2- Where did you buy the vinyl numbers, lines, and flowers?
3-Where did you buy the wood name letters?
4- Are you going to record your kids' heights on the chart, or just use it to measure and then write it down somewhere?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks so much!
